Kitesurfing · 5 stages · Community
From your first lesson, through to your first jump, right up to becoming a certified IKO kitesurfing instructor. For young people aged 14 to 23.
Who is kitesurfing for?
Experience what it’s like to ride the wind. At Ride the Wave, you’ll learn to kitesurf at your own pace, alongside a supportive team. No experience needed, no cost – just a desire to try something new.
Here’s what you’ll need:

You start out as a beginner. You learn to fall, get back up and keep going. Then comes the best bit: enjoying the wind, learning new tricks, and spending time with your friends on the water. You decide how far you want to go. Do you want to teach others to kitesurf? Then you can go on to become a certified IKO instructor and pass on what you’ve learnt yourself.
The programme
Your first few metres on your board. Your first jump. Lots of fun with your mates. And if you like: an IKO-certified kitesurfing instructor.
In this beginners’ course, you’ll be introduced to the fantastic sport of kitesurfing. Over the course of five days of lessons, you’ll learn both the practical and theoretical aspects. The emphasis is on fun, safety and teamwork.
By the end of this stage, you’ll be able to get out on the water on your own and make those first runs.
Once you’ve successfully completed Phase 1, you’re ready for the real thing. Make the most of your new kitesurfing skills! Bring your harness with you to the kitesurfing school, where your kitesurfing kit will be ready and waiting for you at set times.
You’re really starting to become an advanced kitesurfer! By now, you can ride back and forth with ease, and you might even have done your first jumps! Nothing’s stopping you from enjoying the sea with your own wetsuit, harness and your new kitesurf board!
By now, you’re hooked on the water and want to use your skills to teach beginners how to kitesurf. If you’re aged 16 or over, you can become a fully-fledged IKO-certified kitesurfing instructor through our programme. You can then start working straight away as a kitesurfing instructor at one of the kitesurfing schools affiliated with the programme!
With your advanced kitesurfing skills and experience as an instructor, you’re all set to explore the seas abroad and gain international work experience!
Are you at least 18 years old? If so, you can start working as a kitesurfing instructor at one of the (international) kitesurfing schools affiliated with our programme.
