Policies thatreally works.

Local authorities are investing in youth prevention, but not all young people can be reached through traditional channels.

What we offer

A proven
approach for
vulnerable young people.

Ride the Wave works closely with local authorities to reach young people who are struggling – at school, at home or in society – through sport. Our programme combines surfing with personal support, structure and a lasting social network.

Young people who take the initiative themselves

  • No entry requirements: each participant sets their own pace and direction
  • From participant to role model: anyone who wants to can develop further as a Junior Crew member or coach
  • Self-confidence that has a positive impact on their social lives, at school and in the labour market
  • A complement to your youth policy, with young people taking ownership of their own development

Sport as springboard.

Sport asspringboard.

Not every young person finds their way to existing support services. At Ride the Wave, they start out on the water, free from judgement. They discover what they’re capable of, learn to persevere, build self-confidence and, as a result, are able to take the next step themselves. Many of our coaches are former participants themselves. They can empathise with the young people and know what it’s like to start afresh. Your local authority can make this possible through funding or referrals.
